TheMondayAfterPrayerEach Monday we’ll be bringing Sunday into the work week by sharing a prayer for the week based on the Sunday sermon. You can now catch the sermon blogs written by our blogging team Wednesdays, where they’ll offer a mid-week shot of espresso to help re-energize, encourage and challenge us in the midst of our work weeks!

The Monday After Sunday, May 3, 2015: Selfie: Rescued (Click to listen!)

Yesterday, Pastor Joe Boerman asked us if we ever had been rescued, and he spoke about the kind of deep, real rescue God gave us in Jesus.

Pastor Joe looked at several verses including,  Colossians 1:13-14

“13 For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, 14 who purchased our freedom[a] and forgave our sins.”

Pastor Joe highlighted a few key points:

  • “We have a debt to God we can’t repay, and the One who holds the mortgage is the creator.”
  • “The wages of sin are death, being separated from God forever. God provided Jesus for us; we must put down our pride religion and arrogance and come before the cross with empty hands and there we find a Savior who has done it all.”
  • “It’s the most important rescue you will ever experience. Nothing ever comes close to being rescued from self and sin.”
