You know that Sunday feeling, right?

We leave church inspired by and filled with  Truth, encouragement and passion on Sundays … and somewhere along the course of the day, after the music fades and our cars leave the parking lot, pieces of the message tend to fade, too; somewhere along the way, we often lose that Sunday feeling.

The Monday After {the Sunday Sermon} is our attempt to carry the Sunday message into Monday mornings by walking together and sharing how what we’ve heard on Sunday morning is making a difference in our Mondays, our weeks, our lives. Each Monday, a voice from the pews will give personal perspective to the words we soaked in on Sunday.

So follow along each Monday as we seek to integrate that Truth into our daily lives; leave your thoughts in the comments below or send an email if you’d like to share your own story from The Monday After.

The Monday After: Sunday, September 30: Unstoppable: The World God Changes

By Dawn Kelley

Wow! What a commission!

Jesus said it best, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations …”

The bottom line is we are called not only unto Christ but to share His love throughout the earth. I have
struggled with the idea of “going,” but today’s message has given me a different take on the Church as
I know it.

I love to talk about God and all that He is doing in my life. But today I realized how selfish I have
been with my faith and His love for us all. Thinking back on each point of Pastor Joe’s message I have
realized one that I must move over and make room for the Spirit of God to move in. I have purposed in my heart this week to let Him clean house starting with my selfishness.

Two, I may not have gone to seminary but I, empowered by the Holy Spirit, can be used to bring more disciple within the body of Christ by sharing His love for them. This week’s challenge is to share Christ’s love with someone other than those I know.

Lastly, move out! Sunday morning is great; the other great programs in the church buildings are wonderful at providing refreshment … but why do I need them if I am hoarding them? I am looking at this differently, taking the knowledge that has been imparted to me by other Christ followers and sharing it with others. This is a tall order, but thankfully I serve a God who will lead me, correct me and love me as I learn to live His love unselfishly.

  1. Dawn, You have internalized the message well. I too was convicted by my own sermon and am working on internalizing and externaliziing it.
Thanks for your words. Pastor Joe

  2. Dawn, I never thought of it as selfishness before. That’s an interesting thought I’ll be pondering. I think I might have a case of the “me me me” when it comes to this.

  3. Great post. I too felt let to be more intentional with sharing Christ with others. It is so funny how we do “lose” that Sunday feeling / inspiration. Gotta get my grove on all during the week. My God groove!

  4. On “The Monday After”, I was invited to speak about my experience with cancer at the Zion Cancer Treatment Center. The invite came from one of the mom’s on my son’s basketball team. Thanking God for an opportunity to “move out”! It is next Tuesday. I’d appreciate your prayers.
